All I want for Christmas is...

I might actually have a shopping problem.
When I was at BYUH, my roommate and I would go to Honolulu and Waikiki every weekend and just went shopping. It was kind of crazy. And I kind of loved it.
When I came home I didn't really have a job for the first six months, aside from my stuff from etsy so I didn't go shopping at all. But now that I have a job, I feel the need to buy more and more stuff than ever. So let me give you a list of things I want to buy for myself and for everyone at my house (because I usually do pick up stuff for my brothers or dogs, or whatever when I go shopping)

For the Men in my life (brothers, dad, missionary boyfriend)

1. I love finding super cool neckties for my brothers, I just bought them these but I figured I'd buy one for Joey for when he comes home.
2. I just want my brothers to wear this tie. It's so cool
3. I've been eyeing this knitted necktie for a while. I made Joey one a long time ago. I think anyone would like this.
3. Classy Pocket watch for the classy guy in you life.
4. Who doesn't love a funny Tee? This is perfect for my little brother.
5. Finally, a tie clip. personalized.

For the Dogs (Cause my dogs are pretty much my furry little children)

1. Super cute cookie cutter with your pets name on it. I need 2.
2. I am actually making my dogs little doggy stockings. These are cute though.
 3. Pretty much everything from Petsmart.

For me, or for my Mom

1. I just love mugs and the color mint. There's something about mugs that say "hey, get some hot cocoa and a blanket and snuggle on the couch."
2. I want one that says M <3 J
3. Because I will always be a potter head
4. This dress would be so much fun to make. I might just buy this pattern for myself.
5. Anything stuffed animals, my mom always wants the really big bears we see at the stores. or a massage, can't ever go wrong with a massage.

All week I've noticed people on Facebook posting things about themselves, and since I really don't have any content for you this week, I figured I would do a post about this. yay lame.

1. I wish Taylor Swift would stop singing (you can hate me for saying so, but I don't care).
2. I want to move to D.C. so bad.
3. I like my dogs more than I like humans.
4. I love Pokemon
5. I love Dragon ball Z
6. I love Yugioh
7. I will never be an obsessed girlfriend. (Not because I don't love my boyfriend, but because I am my own person, and he is not my whole life).
8. I miss college.
9. I've never been to Utah. Mormon Fail.
10. Am I supposed to automatically like BYU just cause I'm Mormon? Cause I don't. BYU hasn't earned my respect.
11. I have a weird crush on Paul Ryan.
12. I really think it's rude when people send you un solicited pictures of their baby. Like one or two is okay, but if you are sending me pictures twice a day chances are I will never like your child.
13. I still say Aloha a lot.
14. I want to adopt all the dogs in the world. I has such a soft spot for dogs.
15. I consider Hawaii my home.
16. I'm grateful for the "block" feature on Facebook.
17. It really bothers me when people are ignorant enough to assume I am from a certain country. It's not like if I see an Asian person I automatically ask them what part of China they are from. So don't try to tell me where I am from. Ask me, and don't get offended when I get offended that you just assumed I was from a country I am NOT from. BLAH
18. I will never get tired of watching Harry Potter.
19. Sometimes I watch novelas with my mom. But just the really old ones because the new ones are crap.
20. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...I know it, I live it, I love it, and It's true!

I had so many things lined up for the blog, but I realized that I had to start being responsible. You would think that after 4 years in college I would learn not to procrastinate my life, but alas, here I am, procrastinating my life again.

I have law school applications that need to be finished and that deserve my undivided attention. Although I love my little blog and my little shop and my craft, I think it's time I put a hold on everything I enjoy doing for the sake of higher education. It's my dream to go to law school, and I have been blessed with the opportunity to chase my dream, whether the Lord wants me to go to law school or not..well, we will see. But for now I am going to try my hardest to focus on finishing applications (to actually pick the schools I want to apply to).

So you won't see me around here too much until after December, I might post here and there, but I have to be completely honest with myself and with the direction my life is headed. My shop will still be open for anyone who wants to buy anything from me, but I won't be adding new items until after I am done with applications. Which is a bummer because I had a few new linen neckties I am ready to show.

You can follow me on insta @magurto
or on Facebook here.

Anyway, be patient with me, and wish me luck. :)

Mini Package Idea: Movember!

Sometimes I feel like I am a subtle hipster when it comes to my music taste and other random likes such as the "mustache" trend, now I realize it's come and go but let me tell you, nothing makes me happier than facial-hair Joey. Since missionaries have to be clean shaven at all times, I thought this mini-package would be a fun way to take that "Movember" love to my dear Elder Ireland all the way to Argentina.

Quick story, last november for one of my essays for a political science class, I dated the essay as "Movember 2012." I thought I was funny, but my teacher never said anything about it. haha lame story... sorry.

I included these cute mustache props for Elder Ireland and his companion to take pictures with. You can find the printables, here

I also got these cute little mustache stickers at the Honolulu Walmart about a year ago when I was still at BYUH. I've seriously been waiting all this time just to include it in this package. Haha

This TieStache imitation necktie I made him. I have a super easy tutorial for it here.

A mini poster to remind him how important this month is! Printable here

You can totally send this mini package in an envelope. Won't cost that much, and it would be super fun. I wanted to make a necktie out of mustache fabric but I couldn't find the right fabric nor do I think he'd be allowed to wear it.

Super Easy Tie Stache Imitation Tutorial

A while back I came across this neat website Tie Stache.
It's a neat idea, but at $25 per tie and mustache combo I had to think of alternatives on how to send this creative tie to Elder Ireland (This tie is part of another missionary package idea that will be up soon!)

Seriously, it's super easy.

All you need:
  • A necktie (I thrifted this one at DI for $3!)
  • Puffy paint!
  • A cut out of your favorite mustache. You can use some cardboard or paper to cut out your favorite mustache pattern.

First, tape your mustache pattern upside down on the tie. Just like this:

Puffy paint all over it.

Remove cutout pattern - and let dry for at least 24 hours.

Wasn't that super easy? You didn't even need this tutorial to figure that out did you? :)

Happy Movember! That's right, we celebrate mustache movember around here. Actually, I celebrate mustache November by just acknowledging that it's November.

Anyway, let me show you the necktie for Elder Ireland this month!

I know the tag is kinda crooked and the embroidery is off. Haha oops

Look at what I got for my shop! VV
